Zoho Books Pricing in India (2026): Every Plan Explained
Zoho Books is priced per organisation, not per user — which changes the maths completely. Here's what each of the six India plans costs in 2026, what the jumps buy you, and the limits that actually decide.
Related service: Zoho Books →The first thing to understand about Zoho Books pricing is that it's per organisation, not per user. A plan covers your whole entity with a bundled user count, so a five-person accounts team on the Professional plan pays one subscription — not five. That single fact is why Zoho Books usually undercuts per-seat accounting tools as teams grow. Here's the full 2026 India picture.
The six plans at a glance

What each step up actually buys
- Free → Standard: e-invoicing, bulk features, payment reminders, customer portal, transaction locking — the compliance basics every registered business ends up needing
- Standard → Professional: multi-currency transactions, projects and timesheets, price lists, sales/purchase approvals, custom roles and workflow automation
- Professional → Premium: payroll, fixed asset management, budgets and cashflow forecasting, vendor portal, custom modules and functions — the 'finance department in software' tier
- Premium → Elite: advanced inventory — multiple warehouses, batch and serial tracking, bin locations, shipping labels, and direct Shopify (up to 2 stores) and Amazon/Etsy connections
- Elite → Ultimate: advanced analytics with 50+ prebuilt visualisations, KPI tracking and 3 million records — essentially Zoho Analytics embedded in your accounting
The limits that decide, beyond price
Most businesses outgrow a plan through limits, not features. The ones to check against your real volumes: annual invoice and bill counts (5,000 on Standard sounds generous until you invoice daily), included users (extra seats cost ₹150 per user per month on annual billing), and receipt autoscans (200 per month on Standard and Professional, 1,000 from Premium). Payroll on Premium and above covers a bundled employee count, with additional employees at around ₹60 per employee per month. If any one of these is chronically over the line, the next tier is usually cheaper than stacking add-ons.
Who each plan fits
- Free — solopreneurs and very early businesses under the ₹25 lakh turnover threshold who still want GST filing and clean books
- Standard — typical GST-registered small businesses with a founder plus an accountant doing invoicing, expenses and filing
- Professional — services firms billing in multiple currencies or running project-based work with approvals
- Premium — SMBs consolidating payroll, budgeting and fixed assets into one system
- Elite — product and trading businesses that need real inventory control with online sales channels
- Ultimate — established companies that want management reporting and BI without exporting to spreadsheets
Elite's inventory vs a separate Zoho Inventory subscription
If stock management is the driver, you have two routes: Books Elite (accounting with advanced inventory built in) or a lower Books plan paired with a separate Zoho Inventory subscription. Elite keeps everything in one application and one bill, which suits businesses where accounting and stock are handled by the same small team. A separate Zoho Inventory makes sense when operations and finance are different teams, or when you need Inventory-specific capabilities and integrations at higher volumes. We help clients run this comparison against their order volumes before choosing — the answer flips depending on scale.
Budgeting realistically
For most SMBs the licence is the small line: a Professional plan is under ₹18,000 a year before GST. The real project cost is setup done properly — chart of accounts, GST configuration, opening balances, bank feeds, and migration from Tally or spreadsheets. Done once and done right, the system pays for itself in filing time alone. As a certified Zoho partner we scope that setup as a fixed, itemised engagement so the total cost is known before you start.
Frequently asked questions
Is Zoho Books really free, and for how long?
The Free plan has no time limit — it remains free as long as your business revenue stays under ₹25 lakh for the financial year. It includes GST filing, invoicing (up to 1,000 a year), bank reconciliation and one user plus one accountant seat. Cross the threshold and you move to a paid plan.
Is Zoho Books priced per user or per organisation?
Per organisation. Each plan bundles a user count — 3 on Standard, 5 on Professional, 10 on Premium, 15 on Elite, 25 on Ultimate — and additional users can be added for about ₹150 per user per month on annual billing. This makes it significantly cheaper than per-seat tools for teams.
Can I change plans later without losing data?
Yes. Upgrades and downgrades keep your data intact, and billing adjusts pro-rata. The practical caution is downgrading below a limit you already exceed — for example more users or active features than the lower plan allows — which you'll need to trim first. Most businesses start on Standard or Professional and move up as volumes grow.
